Emmanuel Dukundane

Emmanuel is the Director of Partnership Program at Where There Be Dragons— an internationally acclaimed cross cultural education organization. His enthusiasm for international education and cultural exchange began while working with the United States Peace Corps as a language and cross-cultural trainer in Rwanda. Following his time with Peace Corps, he joined Where There Be Dragons, serving as a Course Director in Rwanda and Senegal. Thereafter, Emmanuel went on to earn a Master’s degree in International Education from the School for International Training Graduate Institute in Vermont, USA. Emmanuel also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Rwanda. Emmanuel began his career as a high school teacher at Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology, and has subsequently occupied various roles working with CorpsAfrica to support African volunteers in Senegal, Morocco, and Malawi, and then serving as Education Advisor at the U.S. Embassy in Rwanda, and as the Director of Recruitment and Admissions at Davis College afterwards prior to taking up his current job. As the Education Advisor, his work focused on advising on educational opportunities for scholars applying to U.S. institutions; working with U.S Government agencies, non-governmental and international organizations, and Rwandan education officials to provide information on fellowships and other sources of financial assistance; providing services to U.S. educational institutions; managing the Embassy Kigali PAS Educational Advising Center. Emmanuel is a strong believer in the benefits of community empowerment and experiential learning— a belief that has influenced the years of his career trajectory.
